Abstract
Digital art is a new form of art. Since the 1990’s, with the rise of computing technologies, there has been an unprecedented development of this new art expression, the so called “digital revolution”. However, as it remains a new art field, not much research has been carried out in relation to digital art and the art market.
The purpose of this dissertation is to fill the existing gap of knowledge related to digital art and the art market. It analyses and discusses the art market issues facing digital art. It identifies the key success factors for the future development of the market for digital art. This study’s most valuable contribution is to offer a business model for the commercialisation of digital art. The research has been conducted between June and October 2008.
